Alliance for American Manufacturing: Ferrara Manufacturing Brings Ralph Lauren’s Olympic Designs to Life in the USA

Published July 24, 2024

Ferrara Manufacturing, the New York-based, family-owned garment maker, was featured in The Alliance for American Manufacturing for its role in producing Ralph Lauren's iconic Olympic uniforms for Team USA at the Paris Summer Games. Known for its dedication to Made in America craftsmanship, Ferrara Manufacturing is a women-owned, union-represented company that continues to set the standard for high-end, American-made apparel.

Since 1987, Ferrara Manufacturing has been a cornerstone of New York City’s garment industry, producing everything from luxury fashion to U.S. military uniforms. This year, the team of 115 skilled garment workers proudly stitched Ralph Lauren’s opening and closing ceremony uniforms, featuring blazers, shirts, and jackets that embody American style and precision.

“There’s something really special about what we’re doing here, which is actually making something,” said Gabrielle Ferrara, Chief Operating Officer. “We’re producing something physical, and that is so rewarding.”

The company’s Long Island City factory—a $25 million investment—combines traditional craftsmanship with advanced technologies, such as 3D printing, CAD applications, and automated sewing tools. This forward-thinking approach allows Ferrara Manufacturing to meet modern demands while preserving the artistry of American garment-making.

Beyond the Olympic stage, Ferrara Manufacturing’s influence extends to military uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE), and an apprenticeship program aimed at training the next generation of fashion industry talent. Their commitment to reshoring production and fostering sustainability highlights their mission to revitalize U.S. manufacturing.
